Without looking up, Paul says, “I’m a little busy here. Hold on a minute.”
He can see Adam’s surprise reflected in the window between the sound booth and the darkened, empty recording booth. He suppresses a grin and tells himself he’s focusing on the song that streams through the speakers but who’s he kidding? He isn’t. Even though Paul doesn’t look at him, Adam fills his entire world.
Adam pushes away from the door and comes up behind him, hands already caressing down Paul’s chest. Leaning his chin on Paul’s shoulder, he sighs heavily. “Doing what?” He hugs Paul tight, the back of the chair the only thing keeping them apart.
Paul reaches up and strokes Adam’s fingers. It takes all he has to pry those hands off him. “Wrapping up here.” Gently he moves Adam’s hands away.
Now Adam frowns at him but Paul ignores that, too. When he sees he isn’t getting the reaction he deserves, Adam begins to turn Paul’s chair from side to side, just tiny movements to get Paul’s attention.
