Chapter 51

“He isn’t here,” Lewis points out. As if no one else has realized this.

Paul sighs. “That doesn’t mean he’s quit.”

Lewis gives him one of thoselooks and says, “I doubt he’s coming back.” Then he glances at Adam to imply it’s all his fault, which it is, but Paul doesn’t think they need to be reminded of it.

“That’s it,” Mike says. “I’m going after him. Adam, are you coming or what?”

Adam frowns up at him. “Fuck, no. He knows where the damn studio is if he wants to practice today.”

Mike slaps the back of Adam’s head with a loud smack Paul can hear from where he stands. “You’re an asshole. Would it hurt you to say you’re sorry once in a while? Jesus, what makes you so much better than the rest of us?”

Rubbing his scalp, Adam balks. “I didn’t—”
