“She did. Seven months ago.”

The low murmur that had spread in the room came to a stop as Steel pursed his lips and studied Demetrius. “Seven months ago? And you never got around to marrying her?”

“That’s right.”

Steel shot Hank a look. If he hadn’t been part of this tragedy, it might have been funny, but now he only wished Demetrius would shut up.

“Okay, then. Shall we take off?” Steel started to get up.

“Leaving so soon, Cap’n?” A brute of a man came towards them. He was a bit shorter than Hank, but still large enough to cause a problem should he want to. Hank shifted slightly, wanting to protect his brass funnel from potential bumps.

“Yes, we have business to attend to.” Steel didn’t meet the man’s eyes.
