“Thank you, guys,” he said. “You don’t know how good it is to be back in a familiar place.”
“Actually, we hear that a lot, Sir,” one of the attendants said.
Bobby, who had been hovering the entire time, said, “Noah, you get Tom settled and I’ll show these guys out.”
“Thanks, Bobby,” Noah said.
“God, this bed feels good,” Tom said.
“Do you have enough pain medication to last until morning or shall I go to a twenty-four-hour pharmacy?”
“Babe, it is morning, or haven’t you noticed?”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“I’ll be okay. I was a little woozy at the time, but I think the doctor said one pill every four hours, and I’m pretty sure there are four or five of them in the packet he gave me. Why don’t you just come to bed?”
“Are you going to sleep in your clothes?” Noah said.
“What clothes? All I have on is a T-shirt and boxers.”
“That’s a lot more clothes than you usually wear to bed.”
