Chapter 110

“Hi, Tom,” the man said. “Ready to go?”

“You bet.”

“Where’s your page turner?”

“His grandparents live here in town, and he’s at their house. They’ll be bringing him when they come to the concert—you probably know them as they’re longtime members. Professor and Mrs. Walker.”

“Yes, I do. Professor Walker doesn’t attend services regularly, but Mrs. Walker always comes up to me after church and compliments me on the music.”

“Yeah, they’re good people.”

“Follow me and I’ll show you where you can relax until it’s time.”

He waited in a comfortable little sitting area and had just returned from a final restroom break when Noah turned up.

“Yeah. I had to walk through the sanctuary to get here and it looks to be a little over half-full.”

“Not bad for a Sunday afternoon.”

“Yeah.”

“You didn’t mention the fact that your mother had found a house.”

“I knew she was looking, but I didn’t know she’d bought one, let alone moved in.”
