Chapter 33

“We need to buy some equipment,” Steve said. “We have the mowers that you and Uncle Philip let us have, but it’s just not enough. Also, it takes too long to get them from one customer to the next pulling the mowers behind bicycles. A lot of our customers don’t have any equipment of their own, so we have to provide everything.”

Roger said, “We want to purchase a used pickup truck, a trailer, and a couple of used riding mowers that have a wider cutting diameter, along with edgers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.”

“We have a list of what we need and what it will cost, and we were hoping you guys might consider lending us the money,” Steve said.

“You know we’ll pay it back as quickly as possible out of our earnings,” Roger said.

We studied the paperwork the boys had given us, and Mason said, “You’ve certainly been thorough. You’ve even figured in the cost of insurance for the truck along with everything else.”

“Yes, Sir,” Steve said. “We tried to think of everything.”
