Chapter 52

“I don’t know yet. On Friday evenings, Mike and I go to the wine shop at Five Points and meet with a group of friends. We sample two or three bottles of wine and then decide as a group where we’ll eat. We usually go to a restaurant that either allows you to bring your own wine without charge or charges only a nominal corkage fee. There’s no set agenda, and sometimes we go our separate ways.”

“How big is your group,” she said, “and what are its demographics?”

“There will be anywhere from six to twelve people of both sexes present, depending upon who’s in town and not otherwise occupied. There are a couple of lawyers, a doctor, an airline pilot, a financial planner, two computer professionals, and a CPA, to name a few. In other words, mostly professional people, mostly middle and upper middle-income. Both of the lawyers are plaintiff’s attorneys and probably fall into a much higher income group than the rest, but they certainly don’t act like it, nor do they live like it.”
