“Develop instant amnesia about what?” Carl said.
“I knew you’d understand.”
“Okay, guys,” Mike said, “that’s enough shop talk.”
“Have you seen what Lieutenant Sanchez has done with her apartment?” Carl said.
“She’s asked us to stop by,” I said, “but things have been just a bit too hectic.”
“Take her up on it when you can. She has really turned it into a nice place.”
“Good for her, she deserves it after what she’s been through.”
When we got home, I had two glasses of wine and crashed.
