“I wonder why?” he said over breakfast with Mickey the next morning.
“Perhaps because you were physically exhausted.”
“Yeah. That makes sense.”
“I start work today; what are you going to be doing?”
“Not much of anything, except I’m going to go see Quentin, if he’s available.”
“What for?”
“I want a final report on Dr. Shively before I make an appointment with Mitch.”
“More power to you, babe. Just don’t overdo it running all over the place. You know how tired you were yesterday, and you didn’t actually do all that much. Oh, and don’t even think about organizing the house if the moving van shows up today. It’s not due until tomorrow, but you never know. In any case, we’ll do it together. Rather, I’ll do it with you watching and consulting. Agreed?”
“Agreed. Besides, I’m way too tired to think about physical stuff like that.”
“Good.”
Mickey left for work and Chris went back to bed for a while. After a short rest, he called Quentin and talked to him about his investigation.
