“They have this huge contest every year,” he said, “and the houses are always so cool.”
As they followed him around the display area, they had to admit the kid was right. Some of the houses were amazingly elaborate. When they returned to the cabin, everyone was too stuffed to do anything but sit around the great room. They met with George and Mike’s Realtor the next morning and told him what they were looking for. The guy promised to put together a short list of properties and call them. The night after Christmas was their last night at the cabin, and they hit the road early the next morning.
“What a great way to spend Christmas,” Mickey said.
“Yeah. George said that several of our friends have second homes up here.”
“Who, specifically?”
“Tom and Noah and Quentin and Nate.”
“That’s something we might want to think about.”
“I’m way ahead of you there. It’s on our schedule for next year.”
