“He sold five hundred tires to one of them three weeks ago, right?”
“Yes,” Dan said. “He had to clear it with me, because the customer wanted to pay twenty dollars a tire less than market.”
“Just so,” I said, “and Mr. Ramirez got a kickback of half of that twenty dollars in the form of a check for five thousand dollars from the customer. He gets similar kickbacks from all of his so-called special accounts.”
“Damn!” Dan said. “Are you sure?”
“I can’t prove it in a court of law, but I’m sure.”
I could see that Morgan was about to go ballistic on us. Evidently, Paul saw it too, because he held up a hand and said, “Time out, Dan. We need to hear what Quentin has to say, okay?”
“Yeah.”
