Chapter 24

“Curtis?

You’re thinking about your cowboy, aren’t you?”

He

glared back at Lee to forestall any more teasing. “So, you were telling me

about your damn ice cream?”

Lee

grinned even more broadly, his expression excited. “It’s bourbon flavoured. I

went right out there and asked him–Riley–what cowboys drank, what was his

favourite.” He blushed slightly. “Then a caramel chocolate topping, and

chocolate shapes on top.”

“Jesus.

All that sugar and booze. Sounds like a calorie overload, and I don’t like…”

Curtis paused. Actually, it sounded like something he’d love. And today

he reckoned he needed comfort food the most. “Yeah, I’ll try it.”

It

was a gorgeous looking ice to start with. Lee delivered him a bowlful and

Curtis took a moment to admire the chocolate and white combination of ice cream

and sauce, the ice crystals glinting under the café’s lights, topped off with a

cheeky chocolate garnish in the form of a treble clef.

“So
