“Of course I do. I like their energy and their open enthusiasm. And their
unconditional attachment to what they love. But not en masse! A few at a time
works for me.” He smiled slyly up at Nuri. “Maybe just start with one.”
Nuri nodded and
they exchanged a look that was incomprehensible to Patrick but presumably
privately rewarding because they both looked rather smug.
“How do you
juggle it all, Nuri?” Patrick asked. “Law studies with cab driving and
children’s minder?”
“I manage,” Nuri
said, and raised his eyebrows. “Most days, at least.”
They all
laughed.
“I think every
prospective High Court judge should know what it’s like on the front line,”
Eddy said, hugging himself against Nuri’s side
“So what about
Stan’s set?” Lee obviously still wanted a blow by blow account of the
afternoon. But one look at his shining eyes and Patrick would have given him
