They clung together
for ages, or maybe it just seemed like it. Lee’s hands tightened on Patrick’s
upper arms, and Patrick cradled Lee’s face in his palms as he kissed his way
around every millimetre of Lee’s mouth. He only broke for air because he felt
dangerously light-headed. Lee’s eyes were still half-closed, his expression one
of bliss.
“That night,”
Patrick said hoarsely. “The night you came out of hospital.”
“Hell, yeah.”
Lee’s reply was almost a whisper. “It was—”
“Look, don’t for
one minute think I didn’t love it, it was really wond—”
“—fantastic!”
Lee’s eyes snapped fully open. He ran his tongue over his lips, as if still
savouring the kiss. “Oh. Sorry! No, after you.”
“We often do
that.” Patrick laughed. He felt giddy. “Talk at the same time.”
“As long as it’s
saying the same things.”
Yes. That’s
what it’s all about, isn’t it?Patrick took a deep breath. “But we still need to talk
about it, don’t we? Honestly.”
