Chapter 48

Later, as they ate their dinner and drank a glass of wine, Noah said, “Do you have any idea what prompted them to invite us to Winter Park?”

“Not really,” Tom said, “but I have a couple of thoughts.”

“Which are?”

“Somebody from Winter Park was at our performance, or, failing that, somebody knew somebody who was at our performance who raved about it afterward. Add to that the fact that I performed in Orlando last year and in Gainesville this year, and it makes sense.”

“Are you sure?”

People who are tuned into the arts scene either know what’s going on around the state and who’s hot, or they know somebody who knows somebody, etcetera. What difference does it make? In the final analysis, we’re invited, and we’re going to be paid handsomely for it.”

“I can’t believe it’s that simple. What aren’t you telling me?”
