“Tell me.”

“We switched roles. When you play in concert, you’re the performer and I turn pages for you, but you’re in charge. When I recite, you accompany me and I’m in charge. Granted, that’s many levels above turning pages, but there’s still a sort of symmetry there.”

“Guess who just walked in the door?”

“Who?”

“George and Mike.”

“Invite them over.”

Tom waved at their new friends and motioned them over.

“Hi, guys,” George said when he and Mike walked up to the booth.

“Care to join us?” Tom said. “We’re about half done but don’t mind lingering and talking while you eat.”

“Sure,” George said.
