“The decision has to be yours,” she said, “but you might want to give it at least another two or three years and see what happens.”

“That’s about what I’d figured, but it’s good to know that someone else concurs.”

“Also,” she said, “by that time, you may well be jetting around the country accompanying our boy in recital.”

“Do you really think so?”

“Absolutely,” she said. “I have spoken.”

“I’ve got to get him through this crisis with his family first. I’m performing at the Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore Village next month, and some friends of ours have offered us the use of their cabin in Maggie Valley for two weeks.”

“I hope you took them up on it.”

“You bet I did. I’m already looking forward to two whole weeks without having any responsibilities other than the one performance.”
