Chapter 73

“I think we need to look for a place of our own up here,” Noah said.

“No argument there,” Tom said, “except for the question ‘can we afford it?’”

“Yeah, we might not be able to get serious about a summer cabin until I finish school and I’m gainfully employed.”

“Meanwhile, we ought to start a special savings account for the purpose of accumulating enough money for a down payment.”

“Right now,” Noah said, “I don’t have anything left over to save.”

“True, so I think we’ll start it with my fee for tomorrow’s performance and add all future fees to it. As I do more and more gigs, the fund will grow.”

“I thought you were putting most of the fees you get for performing into your organ fund.”

“I’ve been doing that for a while, and there’s enough there now for a good-sized electronic organ.”

“I don’t want you to give up your dream of having a small pipe organ at home.”
