Chapter 33

“Hello.”

“Hello, Mr. Vanderbilt, this is Chris Bottoms in Jacksonville.”

“How are you Mr. Bottoms?”

“Right now, I’m more than a little bit angry.”

“Not at me, I hope.”

“No, Sir. I just opened the sealed envelope that was in the folder you gave me. It contained a bank statement and a letter from my mother. Were you aware of that?”

“Yes, Sir, but she swore me to secrecy.”

“Let me guess. She didn’t want her mother and father to know about the money, right?”

“Right as rain. She didn’t entirely trust them.”

“Yeah. So how do I get the bank account transferred down here? As long as I’m alive, Ted won’t need the money, but the account ought to be in a local bank.”

“You’ll need to be appointed as your brother’s guardian, and you can do that locally, since you both reside in Jacksonville. Go to your bank and find out what documentation they require; then that sharp lawyer of yours can take care of it.”

“Good. Were you aware of the contents of the letter she wrote me?”
