“Too much sun?” I said.
“You look worse than me.”
“That’s because I’m blond and have fair skin.”
“That’s true enough. You’re the proverbial fair-haired boy. I’m going to watch a movie, but I can do it in my room if you’d prefer.”
“Have at it,” I said, pointing at the television set. “You know I become oblivious to everything when I’m in the middle of a book.”
