“I’ve never seen you this wound up about anything.”

“True, but this thing has caught me.”

“That, lover boy, is the understatement of the year.”

“Do you know if the nearest McDonald’s has Wi-Fi?” he said.

“Actually, I do. The one in Waynesville does.”

“Then let’s go there. I want to go online and transfer some money so that check won’t bounce.”

“Babe, it won’t even be deposited until Monday and can’t possibly get back to Florida before Tuesday or Wednesday.”

“Humor me. I don’t like to take those kind of chances.”

“Your wish is my command.”

We drove into Waynesville and found the Golden Arches. Mike settled down in a booth with his laptop, and I went to the counter and got us a couple of drinks.

BACK AT THE BOOTH, Mike was busily tapping on his keyboard. I slid in beside him just as he got online with his bank. My eyes opened wide in amazement when I saw the balance in his business account.
