“I don’t need to sleep on it,” she said. “An opportunity like this doesn’t come along very often, so yes, they can do it if they want to.”

“Good,” I said. “We’ll leave it up to you to tell them when you’re ready.”

“Can you really make money renting houses like that?”

“As you can see from the pictures, the man that owned them had let them go pretty badly,” I said, “but most of the problems are purely cosmetic. With new paint inside and out and a few repairs here and there, they’ll be easy to rent.”

“We got them dirt cheap,” Mike said, “and we think the rent from just three of them will be enough to cover the payments, taxes, and insurance. Rent from the fourth house will be gravy.”

“Except we have to set aside a good chunk of it for future repairs and maintenance,” I said. “We own three rental houses already, so we know a little bit about such things.”

“You boys are so smart.”
