Chapter 16

I was starting to get hungry, and I spotted

a steakhouse across the street. Like the hotel, it looked familiar.

Had I seen it in a movie about the Mothman, or some TV special?

Either way, it sounded great.

I was starved, and I stuffed myself with

meat, potatoes, and bread. The waitress suggested chocolate pie for

dessert, and I was debating the idea in my head when a text came

through in my phone. It was from Esteban. Had he forgiven me so

soon?

I looked at the message and saw that it was

a picture of Esteban with a nice-looking man standing in front of

the river in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Below the picture,

there was a brief message that read, “Ran an online dating profile

this afternoon, and already off to a good start. I’m moving on. You

should do the same.”

I looked around for my waitress, who was

across the room talking to some other visitors. I nodded my head at

her. This was definitely a night for chocolate pie.
