“We need to go back in,” Mr. Woodard said.
“With all this blood, they’re not going to be in their right state
of mind.”
“How do they know what to do?” I asked Mr.
Woodard.
“Derek knows that they have to eat all of
the remaining sharks. He’ll carry that knowledge with him long
enough to swim toward them, and Wyn will follow him. It’s hard to
say how much of a shifter’s human mind stays with him when he
changes, but it should last long enough for Derek and Wyn to get to
the other sharks. Once they’re there, the blood will drive them to
finish things off. But we should get out of the water. It’s not
really safe for us here. They would never deliberately hurt us, but
sharks with blood are not always as in control as they would like
to be.”
