Chapter 7

“Seal of the confessional?”

“Need you ask?”

“I’ve done it all, and I loved it. Could you really tell?”

“Mitch, my boy, there’s been a cloud of tension gathering around you for the past two or three years. I noticed that it was gone the minute you walked into the Y this morning.”

“Am I that transparent?”

“Only to someone who knows you as well as I do.”

“Thank God for small favors.”

“I gotta tell you, though. The advice that Will gave you earlier was good. You need to find a way to extricate yourself from Rosalie without repercussions. She’s bound to ask you if there’s someone else.”

“If she does, I can truthfully say there isn’t. Not to mention the fact that we haven’t been seeing each other that much lately. I think the fact that I bought a house without telling her should send a message.”

“Maybe. All I’m saying, buddy, is be careful. Be verycareful. Hell hath no fury and all that.”

“Yeah.”

“What are you doing later?”
