Chapter 33

“Isn’t this great?” Rion said when we reached the actual white sand of the beach.

“It certainly is isolated.”

“Nude sunbathing happens here, but it will get you arrested—as will the illicit public activities that guy back in the trees was hinting at. Deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office come through here regularly to keep an eye on things. Still, it is a place where you can walk along the beach holding hands, if you like, or just lie side by side on a blanket.”

“The blanket part sounds good right now. Walking up that trail took it out of me.”

“Actually, it got to me as well. Must be something about walking in really soft sand.”

Rion spread two blankets out, one on top of the other, and we lay down on them. We lay quietly in the sun for quite a while.

“This is nice,” I said.

“Yeah, it’s not as nice as being naked at The Campground, but it’s a hell of a lot closer to home.”
