Chapter 46

“What did George want?” Rion said.

“He’s coming over. Says he has somebody who needs to meet me.”

“No shit? Who?”

“He didn’t say. I guess we’d better get dressed.”

“Yeah. We’ve gotten kind of lax, sitting around naked or in our underwear all the time.”

We pulled on shorts, polo shirts, and deck shoes. Then we went downstairs to wait. George lived only a few blocks away, and the door chimes sounded a couple of minutes after we’d settled in the living room. I went to the door and found George and Mike standing there with two good-looking men. George and Mike were casually dressed, but both of the strangers looked like advertisements for Brooks Brothers.

“Sorry to intrude, Mitch,” George said.

“Don’t be silly, come on in.”

When we were in the living room, George introduced us to Charles and Philip Barnett. When we were settled in comfortable chairs, Charles handed me a business card that identified him as senior partner of Chandler, Todd, Woodward, and Barnett in Atlanta.
