Chapter 57

“Sounds as though you have things under control.”

“Working on it.”

“I’m going to FedEx you some paperwork, including a draft of the complaint I’d like to file against the drunk driver who killed the boy’s mother.”

“Sure. I’ll watch for it.”

“Have you thought about the insurance proceeds?”

“That we have. They’re supposed to be used exclusively for Jamie’s education—there should be just about enough to get him all the way through high school, college, and perhaps beyond. Rion is going to look for a couple of rental properties in which we can invest the money. That way, the income will pay for his schooling, and the property will be worth a lot more by the time he goes to college.”

“There’ll be more than you know. I’ve just seen the insurance policy, and it has a double-indemnity clause. Since she died accidentally, the payout will be doubled.”

“Wow. By the way, we have an appointment later today to meet with the headmaster of an Episcopal school.”
