This is the story of how Emery Walters became whom he was supposed to be.<br><br>I knew I was male at an early age, something that was a societal no-no in the 1950s and still is in parts of the country today. Burying my male identity, I strove to be the best woman possible. But after raising my four wonderful children from two debilitating marriages, I found myself alone and nearly penniless. That was when Emery asserted his identity.<br><br>Life became better with the shift from female to male, a third marriage, and a wife who, herself, transitioned from male to female.

Some Fine Day

Another cruise we took this year was definitely different in the gender arena. It was a Naval Academy cruise to Bermuda, and we flew out east to take it. Robyn was well accepted, and I have a photo of her standing with all her fellow, male, graduates, all the men in dark jackets, and she in a little black dress, while I was standing with all the other spouses, all female, except for me. Maybe they gossiped later, but I heard nothing rude at all.


Two things from August: We met Dr. Milton Diamond at the FTM conference; had dinner with him and his wife. He is a famous doctor from Hawaii. He was very interesting and made me feel validated and real. He has used our photos in some of his presentations.
