This is the story of how Emery Walters became whom he was supposed to be.<br><br>I knew I was male at an early age, something that was a societal no-no in the 1950s and still is in parts of the country today. Burying my male identity, I strove to be the best woman possible. But after raising my four wonderful children from two debilitating marriages, I found myself alone and nearly penniless. That was when Emery asserted his identity.<br><br>Life became better with the shift from female to male, a third marriage, and a wife who, herself, transitioned from male to female.

Yes, lives are at stake here, and vision, health overall. Not just me, what about their other patients? And I didn’t make the rules that just because Robyn worked her butt off for the government for over twenty years, and still does, that I get the same insurance that she earned. How nice for me, but I didn’t make the rule. When I see a physician, whether I pay through the nose or it is covered by someone else’s benefits, I deserve first class service, same as everyone does. Don’t get me started on health care since I’ve been (now) on both sides of the have it-don’t have it line, and now as trans, am able to see yet another dark side.
