I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun in my life. If I hadn’t been afraid of getting killed, I’d still be in that surf, playing like a twelve-year- old. Then we went back in the water again at the hotel, back out to challenge the waves, and get blasted by the water and sandblasted by the sand, yummy fun, even with a cloudy sky. Got an unsolicited compliment from a real old-timer, a “You’re doing great!” kind of thing apropos of nothing, but since I never heard that from my own father, I’ll take it with a big grin.
Nonetheless, I’m still thinking I’ve never had such an amazing and wonderful time in my life, and that indeed, living well is indeed the best revenge. Also, if I can go from ignorant, ignored girl child to welfare mom to this, then miracles can happen to anyone. Keep that in mind, because it’s true, and my writing is all about that, humor, hope, and finding your way.
