“So… what? Months?” Sean’s tone was turning colder slowly but surely.
“Yes.”
“They just lost their mom, Rider. Now you’re going to go and….” Sean whipped his head to look at Rider, who couldn’t help but meet the piercing gaze.
“I’m not leaving them.” Or you, you stupid man. I love you. “But I left the States for research and I can kill two birds with one stone like this.”
Sean took a fortifying breath and held it in for a moment. Rider could see the wheels turning in his normally even-tempered Irishman’s head. He’d talked about Sean with Mikael and Noah, and they’d both told him Sean wasn’t acting like his usual self, but nobody did when they were grieving such loss.
