“I can’t do it,”I thought.

Jerod immediately went to his desk and sat with his face in his hands.Why would he do that if he hadn’t heard me?I felt bad for him,but I had to pick up Jeremiah and go home.I felt so weird about that situation.I texted Amy over the weekend and she replied back every time,so I felt everything was going to be all right.

I cuddled with Jeremiah that night.I hated the weekends he spent with Jeff,but luckily this weekend was mine.Even though Jeremiah had his bed in the room he shared with Nate,most of the time he slept with me.I was probably spoiling him,but I wanted him nearby.

The next morning I had my daily hurl—it was more like a dry heave—so I still thought it had to do with my smoking.Nia had the day off too,so we decided to go for a walk,pushing the boys in their strollers.We talked conversationally as Nia’s phone played music,but suddenly her face grew serious.
