Chapter 16

Red wasn’t really my colour, so I grabbed a purple top and a pair of jeans and rummaged in the draw at the bottom of the wardrobe for some underwear.

Although they smelled clean I was a little nervous about wearing someone else’s underwear, but what other choice did I have? There was no way in hell I was going commando.

I balled the clothes up in my arms and took another deep breath before heading back out into the living room.

I was relieved—and also a little disappointed—not to be confronted by Mathew’s perky ass again.

The girls would be so proud of me if they were here. I thought remembering how even Keeya and Luci could admire a good-looking guy when he came along. A small wave of guilt washed over me as I reminded myself that Mathew was Zoe’s cousin.

As if my thoughts had conjured him, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and when I looked around, he appeared at the top of the staircase.
