He shook his head. “No, I have access to the records. The illegal part is giving it to you. Though there’s not much to give, really. He works just down the street from here.”
My cringe went even cringier. He was still breaking the law on my behalf. “From respected college professor to criminal. I’ll make sure to note that with the tenure board.”
He shrugged. “Tenure board. Parole board. You say tomato.”
I removed my hand from beneath his. “Please stop, Dave.” I smiled at him. He smiled back. He stared. I stared in return. My heart belonged to Bing, but it seemed to be on loan to Dave. I wondered how that was possible. I wondered even more how I was going to be able to leave him the way Bing had left me―in other words, for good. “So, when would you like to accost the good officer?”
“I’m off work tomorrow,” he replied. “Maybe we can go down to the station then and ask for him.”
