Chapter 49

“You’re a liar! You told me I could see him.” The boy glared at Perry, who simply curled his lip.

“And you felt it was necessary to bring him to me?” Wallace didn’t like civilians being brought into headquarters. They weren’t supposed to know an agency like the WBIS existed, especially since Public Relations worked hard to see to that. Perry should have used better judgment.

“I would have sent Howard to get him, but he wouldn’t tell me where he was.”

The boy continued to glare at Perry.

“He wanted to talk to Wells,” the Director of Security hissed, sounding like a teakettle about to boil over. He knew as well as Wallace did that Joseph Wells was one of the aliases Mark Vincent used from time to time.

Wallace sighed. Another man who wasn’t a fan of his Director of Interior Affairs.

The boy’s face was flushed and his hands were clenched into fists, but behind the glasses he wore, Wallace could see a hint of desperation lurking in his eyes.
