Chapter 71

“Hmm,” he said when I was finished. The baby grunted and his face turned red, and then he started fussing again. Matheson slipped a hand under the blanket. “Uh-oh. Someone needs a diaper change.” He looked at me uncertainly. “Sorry, sir.”

“Go ahead, I’ll come with you.” I’d seen my share of revolting things. I could deal with a baby getting his diaper changed.

I took the cup of coffee and followed Matheson into his son’s bedroom. He put the baby on the changing table and continued talking as he stripped down his son, took out a handful of wet wipes, and set about changing the diaper. “I haven’t heard of Pandora Gautier, or even this Biederman Institute.”

“The Boss will give you the time you need to look into her.”

“This affects the WBIS also?”

“We don’t know at this point.” Well, I didn’t know, and I didn’t like it. “I’ll send the information from my computer to yours after I get home.”

He nodded. “I’ll look into it first thing in the morning.”
