“Is everything all right, Quinton?”

“Yes, Mother. We’re at the WBIS right now. We’ve come across a code. Would you mind taking a look at it?”

“Not at all, sweetheart. It will probably take some time until I discover what sort of cypher it is. I’ll have Gregor make you some dinner.”

“Something light, if that would be okay? We’re getting sandwiches here.”

“All right, sweetheart.”

“Thank you. And would you let Joe know we’ll be back soon?”

“He’s a delightful boy, Quinton. Gregor and I will enjoy being his grandparents.”

I had to smile at her words. They were so Mother.

We said goodbye, and I hung up in time to hear Mark ask Winchester, “Okay, how many pages did you manage to get through?”

“About fifty.” The young agent scrubbed a hand over his face. “Sixty? I’m sorry, sir, I can’t remember. After a while it just became a blur.”

“He did seventy-eight pages, sir,” Ms. Mays said. “All of them.”

“Let me have them.”
