Chapter 19

Two hours later,Jake had seen pretty much all there was to see in the valley, and Josh pointed the Mustang home. When they had exited the vehicle,Jake said,“Tell me about the other van.”

“There’s not a lot to tell, actually,”Josh said.“We found it last year, and towedit home.Randy made an extensive list of what parts he’d need, and had spent the past six months locating them.He was just a couple of weeks away from starting a serious rebuild on the van’s motor.”Josh led Jake over to a workbench and picked up a yellow pad.“Here are his notes.Like I said yesterday, feel free to get the old girl running, and we can go on joint scrounging expeditions.”

“Count on it,”Jake said,“but maybe not until we get back from our next trip.I’d like three or four uninterrupted days for a project like this one.Does everyone in thevalley drive Econoline vans for their scrounging missions?”
