Chapter 9

Dex unlocked the leg cuffs first, moving aside quickly as Seth kicked out in his urgency to be away from the touch of silver. If Dex had unlocked the wrist cuffs first, it was likely Seth would have broken his own ankles in a desperate bid for escape. As it was, he jerked futilely at the manacles.

“Shhh, it’s all right,” Dex whispered, smoothing down Seth’s sweat-dripping hair, his big hands gentle, easy along Seth’s tight, straining shoulders. “Calmly. Breathe. Slowly, my darling. It will be all right. Just…one…“ Click. One manacle dropped free. Seth growled, actually snarled. Fierce, vicious. The exquisite release from pain was itself almost white hot in its intensity. Click.

He was loose. Seth screamed, shuddered and fell, knocking them both to the teak-tiled floor.
