Chapter 2

“Here, you can have his saddle, too.” The owner had suddenly stuffed a County dressage saddle into Emma’s trailer. “I’m never buying a Thoroughbred again, and this saddle definitely won’t fit what I want.”

At the last moment she also threw in his bridle and New Zealand blanket. Emma couldn’t believe her luck: her budget was extremely tight. Bank tellers don’t earn a fortune and being given those extra items saved her a ton of money.

When Wisdom walked straight up the ramp into the unfamiliar trailer, his ex-owner exclaimed peevishly, “He’s always been a toadabout loading!”

Emma forced a smile. “Well, now you don’t have to deal with him anymore.”

“Good riddance!” was the seller’s parting shot to Wisdom.

Emma drove away, looking forward to giving him a home with clearly much needed TLC.

The grey gelding quickly settled into Blakewell Stables. The barn was only three miles from Emma’s cottage, and the other boarders were mainly event riders like herself.
