Chapter 22

“All clear, front and side,” Maverick proclaimed softly. “And the phone line is cut and there’s an outside power box. I flipped the switch so we’re set on that, too.”

“Good work.”

“Now what?” Tripp whispered. “You disarm the alarm box?”

“If it runs off the phone line it’s already disabled. But never presume that’s the case.” Dirk took a small tool that resembled a TV remote from his backpack. “Okay, from the time Tripp gets the door open, we have maybe a minute to locate the alarm box so I can use this. Fey, are there any visible cameras?”

“You want me to get the door open?” Tripp asked at the same time that Fey was carefully looking through the patio doors.

“Good test of your bumping skills,” Dirk told him, handing him the ring of bump keys and a small rubber mallet.

“No cameras that I can see from here,” Fey said. “Not saying there couldn’t be along the walls I can’t see.”

“True, so I’ll go in first once Tripp has the door unlocked.”
