Chapter 64

“Ah, hell,” Dirk muttered. “If we weren’t on a time schedule…”

“Hang on,” Tripp said. “I’ll be right back.”

He was, eight minutes later, carrying a small armload of clothes. He handed some to Fey, keeping the rest for himself. “Give us a couple and we should pass.”

Fey went into the bathroom while Tripp took over the bedroom. They both reappeared looking like they’d spent the last few weeks sleeping rough.

“Okay, that works,” Dirk said. “As soon as you’re all in position Maverick and I will go in.” 23

“That was fast. I didn’t expect to see you for at least a week. Simpler than you thought it would be?” Mr. Powell asked late the next morning when Dirk appeared outside the cage.

“Buzz me in and I’ll tell you,” Dirk replied, shifting the large bag he was carrying from his shoulder to his hand.
