Chapter 73

Willie snorted. “Who wouldn’t in this day and age? What do you have in mind?”

As Dirk explained, he saw an avaricious gleam in Willie’s eyes and knew he had a new partner in crime. They worked out the team’s percentage of the profits from the sale of whatever items they were sent to retrieve.

Then, the bargain sealed, Willie said, “I’ll be in touch as soon as I have some customers. How many can you handle at one time?”

“Two, presuming we’re given enough time to plan everything down to the last detail. One if it’s a rush job.”

Willie’s smile grew even broader. “We’ll soon be very rich men.”

“One condition,” Dirk told him. “You may find customers, but once I hear the details of what’s involved, I have the right to reject a job.”

Willie’s smile dimmed somewhat as he said, “Oh of course, of course. It wouldn’t do for you to be caught. I’d lose my meal ticket.”

“Exactly.” After a brief handshake, Dirk left the shop.
