Chapter 47

“Darren Lucien Nichols, stop lying and tell this woman the truth,” she said.

I saw Darren cringe at the mention of his middle name. He hated being called Lucien and was still angry with his parents for naming him after his great-grandfather. I told him to consider himself lucky Lucien was only his middle name. Hell, it could have been his first.

Darren told the nurse, “That handsome fellow standing beside my sister is myboyfriend, not hers.”

The look of surprise on the nurse’s face brought a smile to my lips. She tripped over herself apologizing for her mistake while we all assured her it was no big deal.

“Gosh, I’m so embarrassed,” she said. “I’ll be finished here in just a few minutes.”
