“When are you going to give me a key to your place, Kolya? At the very least, I could water your plants.”


“I do not have plants. Would you like some coffee?” Nikoloz checked the door for traps, found nothing, and opened it. He ducked down to enter at waist level, but the apartment was empty of enemies. Vincent followed him in and closed the door behind them. After a thorough check for bugs, Nikoloz moved to the kitchen and put the percolator on the stove. “Are the groceries for me?”


“I knew they wouldn’t give you time to go shopping. Don’t worry, I got the sort of food you usually eat, not burgers and fries.” Vincent pulled his purchases out of the bag, storing some of them in the refrigerator. “I thought I’d cook you something. You must be exhausted.”


“Did the medicos give you anything else for pain, or just send you home with a bottle of aspirin?”
