“Then he’s my kind of boy.” She looked at me, head cocked. “And yours?”

“Do not even go there,” I replied coldly. “He has no idea that I’m gay, as I know Duff told you last night, and I intend to keep it that way.”

“Why?”

“I don’t need or want that kind of complication in my life. Once burned, twice shy, as the saying goes, and I got badly burned.”

“By a bastard we should have killed or castrated,” she growled in a passable imitation of Duff when he was angry.

“True enough, but we didn’t.” I sighed. “When it came down to it, I don’t think I could have killed Ian, as much as I hated him at that moment. I still do. At least he got his punishment, although he’s not aware he did.”

Rob grinned wickedly. “I wonder how his affair with Steve is going.”

“Like I give a damn?”

“Probably not.” Liddy came over to hug me. “And now you have someone—”

“I told you, that is notgoing to happen, so drop it.”
