“Go get ‘em, Sally,” Gregory said, and she took off running. He knew the horses would be back in no time.
Inside the cabin, rain pelted through the logs and soaked everything next to the walls. The need to chink the cabin as soon as possible was evident.
“Looks like we’ll be sleeping under the stars again, Greg,” Frank said with a laugh. After the day’s events, all he could do was laugh.
“Yeah, I hoped it wouldn’t be this soon.”

After the cyclone, hot and humid weather lingered. With the house built and planting progressing as planned, Frank and Gregory settled into some daily routines.
“We’re lucky, Greg,” Frank said during breakfast.
“Why’s that?”
“Because most married couples don’t spend the day together like we do,” Frank said. “We get up and do our outside work together, and then we come inside and do our housework.”
Gregory didn’t answer, but grunted his agreement.
“You awake?” Frank asked with a smile.
“No…”
