Chapter 12

“What happened?” Felix asked with a furrowed brow. “You were barely there an hour!”

“I dun wanna talk ‘bout it,” Blake slurred. He slumped his head back and closed his eyes. “I wanna go home and forget the last half hour.”

“So it was okay for a while?”

“Yeah, I guess.”

Felix helped Blake buckle his seatbelt and drove off. “Did you get to clear things up with people?”

Blake sniffled. “No. There was a huge friggin’ misunderstanding and now they hate me even more.” He teared up and tried to drink from his empty bottle.

“How many of those have you had?”

“I dunno. How many can fit in…in…uh…seven red Solo cups? ‘Cause it’s that plus three or four or something.”

“Oh, geez. Yeah, you need to get home and lie down pronto.”

They drove in silence for a few minutes. Suddenly Felix was nudging Blake’s shoulder. “Huh?” Blake groaned.

“I asked if your sister was home and you were blacked out.” Felix looked back and forth from Blake to the road. “Are you okay?”
