Chapter 12

“Why not? Isn’t this what you really want?” Bo asked as he stroked Chad’s hair.

Chad sat up. Bo raised up on one elbow. “What’s to stop you?”

Chad explained his situation. When he finished, Bo pulled him into another hug.

“You’re a good man, Chad Armstrong. Too good.”

The two lay together for a while longer. Outside the tent the sounds of the show being dismantled began.

Bo looked into Chad’s eyes. “I have to go,” he said sadly.

“Yes. So do I,” Chad replied.

They stood, dressed, and walked to the entrance to the tent where they held each other in a deep embrace.

“I’ll never forget you, Bo Miller,” Chad said.

Bo nodded.

Chad, without looking back, headed for home. That night he hung his new cowboy hat on the bedpost and thought of Bo as he fell asleep.
